Teaching Reviews Chronology Dances Biography Statement Home I came of age artistically in the late 1980's, when New York's downtown dance was led by choreographers seeking to make social impact with works about sexuality and body politics. I experienced how taking risks in art-making can catalyze a profound sense of liberation.

In 2006 my work still concerns itself with the body, and coaxing out the information held there. The dancers who work with me necessarily share this interest; their presence and interactions provide subject matter for the work and set the tone of our explorations.

Ultimately, we want to be of service to the larger world. The arts give us a means to grapple with the most complex issues of existence. We have to trust our explorations; however the work comes out, we have to embrace it and allow it to be. This is one way that humanity progresses and heals its wounds.
